Meta Description: Get the inside scoop on what Mortalis is planning at the Giza Pyramids in Book Four of The Rainsavers. Is it ancient tech or a global threat? Read more to find out how Leonard West faces his biggest challenge yet!
Hey there, Rainsavers fans! Steven G. Samuels here. It’s February 2026, and I can hardly believe how far we’ve come. Since we launched the first book, the community has been buzzing about one name more than any other: Mortalis.
If you’ve been following our journey at The Rainsavers, you know we don’t do things halfway. We’re deep into the production of Book Four, and the theories flying around the Discord and our comments section are wild. But today, I’m pulling back the curtain just a little bit. We’re heading to Egypt, but forget everything you think you know about mummies and curses. We’re talking high-tech terraforming, ancient energy, and the most dangerous man on the planet.
Who is Mortalis, Anyway?
Before we get into the sand and the grit of the Giza plateau, we need to talk about the man himself. Mortalis isn't your run-of-the-mill villain. He doesn't want to blow up the moon or rob a bank. In the world of 2026, those tropes are a bit dusty, aren't they?
Mortalis is a visionary: just a very, very twisted one. He sees a world struggling with climate anxiety and resource depletion, and he thinks he has the "fix." The problem? His fix involves tearing down the current world order to build something new. He’s the ultimate shadow figure, and in Book Four, his shadow finally falls across the most famous landmarks on Earth.

The Giza Connection: Not Just a Tourist Trap
Why the Giza Pyramids? It’s a question Leonard West asks himself about fifty times in the first three chapters.
In The Rainsavers universe, we love exploring ancient technology vs. modern threats. We’ve always hinted that the ancients knew things about the Earth’s core and atmospheric pressure that we’ve forgotten. Mortalis hasn't forgotten. He’s spent years (and billions) researching the "Great Resonance": a theory that the pyramids weren't just tombs, but massive stabilizers for the planet's electromagnetic field.
What Mortalis is hiding isn't gold; it’s a key.
- A key to controlling the weather on a global scale.
- A way to redirect the "Rain" (our favorite mystery) to wherever he wants.
- A high-tech override hidden beneath the limestone.
Leonard West: The Brains vs. The Shadow
Our guy Leonard West is in for a rough time. If you remember from the earlier books, Leonard is the tech genius of the team. He’s the one who usually has an answer for everything. But Mortalis is playing a game Leonard doesn't quite understand yet.
In Book Four, Leonard has to go boots-on-the-ground in Cairo. We’re moving away from the lush rainforests and into the heat of the desert. The contrast is intentional. We want to show that the environmental stakes aren't just about trees: they’re about the entire balance of the planet.
Leonard’s struggle in this book is personal. He sees a bit of himself in Mortalis: the obsession with tech, the desire to solve the world's problems. It makes for some really intense dialogue. Is Mortalis just a dark mirror of what Leonard could become? You'll have to read to find out.

Why 2026 Readers Love This Stuff
We’ve noticed a shift in what people want to read lately. People are moving away from the "lone wolf" hero. That’s why we focus so much on the team dynamic at The Rainsavers. Team-based adventure series are taking over, and Book Four doubles down on that.
While Leonard is the focal point for the Giza mission, he can’t do it without the rest of the crew. Mortalis knows this, too. He’s trying to pick them apart, one by one. It’s a psychological thriller wrapped in a high-octane adventure.
What to Expect in Book Four:
- High-Tech Gadgetry: Leonard’s new "Sand-Crawler" drones are a highlight.
- Deep Lore: We’re digging into the history of The Rainsavers' predecessors.
- Stakes: If Mortalis succeeds at Giza, the "Rain" stops for everyone but him.
The Aesthetic: Dark, Tech, and Ancient
When we were designing the concept art for this book, I told the team: "I want it to look like Blade Runner met Indiana Jones, but without the hats." We’re going for a dark, moody aesthetic. Think of the pyramids lit by neon blue pulses of energy at 3:00 AM.
Mortalis doesn't hide in a cave. He operates in plain sight, using "archaeological restoration" as a front for his massive drills. The visual of a high-tech laboratory built inside an ancient chamber is something that’s going to jump off the page.

Why Ancient Mysteries Make the Best Villains
There’s something inherently terrifying about a villain who uses the past against the future. Mortalis believes that modern humans have lost their "connection" to the Earth, and he’s using ancient resonance tech to force that connection back: by any means necessary.
This mix of historical mysteries and sci-fi allows us to raise the stakes higher than ever. It’s not just a physical fight; it’s a fight for the soul of human history.
Join the Adventure
I know, I know: I’m teasing a lot here without giving away the ending. But that’s the fun of it! We are so excited to get Book Four into your hands. The Rainsavers are more than just characters to us; they’re a response to the world we’re living in right now.
If you’re feeling that climate anxiety, or just looking for a world to get lost in, we’ve got you covered. This series is our way of saying that even when things look dark: even when guys like Mortalis are trying to rewrite the rules: there’s always a team ready to save the day.
Quick Skim Recap:
- The Location: Giza Pyramids, Egypt.
- The Villain: Mortalis (using ancient tech for global control).
- The Hero: Leonard West (facing his own tech-obsession demons).
- The Tech: Atmospheric stabilizers hidden under ancient monuments.
- The Vibe: Dark, high-stakes, eco-thriller.
What’s Next?
We’re putting the finishing touches on the manuscript as we speak. Stay tuned for more character reveals (including a certain genius orangutan you all love) and more "Field Notes" from the team.
If you haven't started the journey yet, there's no better time. You need to know where it all began before you see where it's going in the desert.
